Soccer Star David Beckham Makes First Payment on Miami Stadium Land

By:

Major League Soccer is on it's way to Miami if David Beckham has anything to do with it. Plans have been underway for several years to bring a stadium for the new team and the first payment of $450,000 toward the $9 million purchase of the 3 acres has just been made.

Beckham and his business partners have approximately one year to pay the majority of the money for the land that Miami-Dade County have agreed to sell. Plans to build a 25,000 seat stadium are coming together as Beckham has had an option to buy a franchise for $25 million since he played for LA Galaxy ten years ago.

The no-bid deal with Miami-Dade is facing a legal challenge.  – Rich Bockmann
