Miami Welcomes David Beckham (finally!)
By: Sabrina Orlov •
Four years after revealing his intention to create a professional football team in Miami, David Beckham was able to fulfill his dream on Monday. At an event in the South Florida city, the former English player presented his project, which was accepted by the country's largest soccer league to enter the competition from 2020.
A profile of the new club is already active on social networks and appears as "Miami MLS Football". The name is only temporary and serves to publicize the new association, which will have its name and colors chosen through a popular vote in the coming months. But there is already some speculation on options like Miami United, AC Miami or Inter Miami.
David Beckham's contract with MLS was closed in 2014 and the league gave him the option to buy an expansion franchise for $ 25 million ($ 79.16 million). The official was dependent on the former English player to secure a place to build a stadium in a central area of ??Miami.
The stadium, located next to the Miami River, will have a capacity of 25,000 fans and will not have public money. Currently, MLS is in the process of expansion and expects to reach 24 clubs by 2020.
This fact will certainly bring even greater attention to the Miami region, reinforcing its potential to receive investments from abroad. Great news for everyone with an eye on local real estate opportunities.
