Chinese, Canadians & Mexicans Comprise Top Foreign Buyers in the U.S.
Real estate clients from around the world are comprised of two different types of clients, non-resident foreigners who are not U.S. citizens and who live permanently outside the U.S. They typically purchase real estate for vacations, investments, or other short visits. The other international clients are those who reside in the U.S. but are not citizens and are here as resent immigrants or her on temporary visas.
China has been making the outward flow of funds increasingly difficult for Chinese citizens. This has resulted in a slowdown of Chinese buyers in the U.S but they still remain as the top foreign buyer of U.S. residential property, comprising 14%. They are followed by Canada at 12%, Mexico 10%, India 5%, and the U.K 5%.
